Why are you running for office? My wife and I have been raising our son here in Cortlandt since he was born. We chose to raise our family here because of Cortlandt's high services and low taxes. For a family like ours, some of the services we see a lot of are the recreation programming. The amount of sports and activities available in Cortlandt for residents is wonderful.

My desire to see that continue in our community is what got me involved as a coach in the town sports leagues, and later as a member of the town's Parks, Recreation and Conservation Advisory Board.

I'm running for the Cortlandt Town Board now because I strongly feel that the progress that we have seen over the past decades, as residents, as families, and as tax payers, must to continue for the next decade (and more!) as well.

How long have you lived in Cortlandt for?

My wife, Sharon, and I moved here when our son was born in 2004.

What do you love about Cortlandt? What makes it the best place to live in Westchester?

I love that Cortlandt is a diverse collection of communities that all share an appreciation of the natural resources and surroundings that really define our location in the Hudson Valley and in New York, such as our river and our park lands. The balance that we have stuck to keep them in place, respect them, and not allow overdevelopment to run over our town, while keeping our town taxes so low must continue.

Do you have favorite restaurants or favorite places to shop?

Many! Cortlandt and its villages have so many wonderful restaurants. Black Cow coffee is a requirement most days. When in Croton for dinner, we're often at Umami or Samurai. It's lucky that Sharon and I both really enjoy spicy food, because India House is regular staple of ours as well. Julianna's and Brodie's are favorites too. It's also become a tradition that we always celebrate our anniversary at Ocean House.

What does Cortlandt mean to you?

To me, Cortlandt means home and family. When I was growing up, my family moved around the country a lot and we were between many houses. Contrasting that to our son's experience and our family, this is the only house he has known. To him, and to our whole family, Cortlandt is home. It's where my family has put down roots and the community that we are a part of.
