Women's March Organizers Plan Cheer Your Favorite Prez Forum In Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Local residents can choose their favorites among past or present presidents regardless of their political parties Sunday, Feb. 17 at a special forum in Stamford.

The forum at the Ferguson Library is being planned by the organizers of last month's Women's March in Stamford.

"My Favorite Presidents Day" to honor all presidents a celebration of President's Day, peace and free speech, says the announcement.

There will be an introduction by Chair of the National Peace Academy Lisa Worth-Huber will give the introduction.

The forum will follow to allow those attending to cite their favorite president in 100 words or less. Guests will then be invited to take the stage podium to share their stories.

"We hope to gather a group of non-partisan community members to share their views of favorite presidents,” said organizer Lisa Boyne. 

Presidents from "all political parties" will be celebrated at this event "a common forum of positive participation."

“We come together to celebrate presidents who have inspired us through their leadership to reach for our country’s highest ideals of freedom, equality, justice, innovation, and inclusion," Lisa Worth-Huber said.

Stamford Mayor, David Martin will kick-off the forum with a brief speech on his favorite president. 

Other local Republican officials have been invited.

Participants may bring posters of their favorite presidents. Prizes will be awarded for "best" posters in adult and children categories.

Attendance is free but tickets are required due to seating capacity. 

Nearby parking is available at the municipal lot at 28 Bell St. or the parking lot in Target on Washington Blvd. and Broad Street.

The library is at 1 Public Library Place, Stamford.
