White Plains' Melroy Scott Receives New Rank, Duties

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Maj. Gen. Patrick Murphy, the adjutant general for New York, recently announced the promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.

Melroy Scott, of White Plains, who serves with the Company C, 1-69th Infantry, was promoted to the rank of private first class. It is Scott's second promotion in the past few months; in February, he was promoted to private.

Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability, and development potential.

These promotions additionally recognize the best-qualified soldiers and attract and retain the highest caliber citizen soldiers for a career in the New York Army National Guard.
