Pickup Flips on Merritt in Westport

A driver of a pickup truck escaped injury Thursday morning after his truck rolled over on the Merritt Parkway near Exit 42 south in Westport.

At about 11:30 a.m., Westport firefighters responded to the call. Firefighters first on scene found the truck lying on its roof in the median of the parkway. The driver was able to crawl out without any injuries, Assistant fire Chief Robert Kepchar said

The driver reportedly told firefighters that he was northbound when he lost control of the truck, hit a snow bank in the left lane and rolled over, coming to a stop on the southbound median.

Westport firefighters closed the left northbound lane and Fairfield firefighters closed the left southbound lane so that the tow truck driver could flip the truck over and tow it away. The area was cleared at about 11:57 a.m.
