CARMEL, N.Y. - Bernadette Keenan, of Forest Hills and Carmel, died Sunday, Sept. 7. She was 70.
Keenan was born in 1944, and graduated from St. John's University with a Bachelor's degree and Adelphi University with a Master's degree in Education. A longtime resident of Forest Hills and Carmel. She taught at St. Sylvester's School and Bishop Kearney High School. She taught ceramics out of her home in Forest Hills for many years, and later returned to teaching at PS 66 in Richmond Hill.
Keenan is survived by her husband; four sons; 11 grandchildren; and six siblings.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Cargain Funeral Home, 10 Fowler Ave., Carmel, NY 10512. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11 at Our Lady of the Lake/Mt. Carmel Church, 1 Noonan Drive, Lake Carmel, NY 10512 (845)225-3672.
