“We are very excited about the project, and it seems to be working out great so far,” said Assistant Principal Dawn Pomeroy. She worked with the PTA’s Character Education Committee and parent Heather Trivedi to bring the bench to the school.

The Buddy Bench is a simple wooden bench intended to foster a sense of inclusion by inviting children to befriend classmates who sit on it.

The bench was introduced at Meadow Pond's Oct. 29 town meeting and installed shortly after.

A second-grade student in Pennsylvania introduced the idea for a Buddy Bench to bring extra support and encouragement to peers in need.
