The box truck — described as either white, silver or gray — hit the woman between Jones Road and Grand Avenue around midnight Tuesday, the sheriff’s Anthony Cureton said.

The driver “stopped alongside the highway and checked on the struck female, and then left the scene continuing west on Route 4,” he said.

The driver was described as large, white, stocky and bald.

Anyone who might have seen the crash or has information that could help the investigation is asked to contact the BCSO’s Bureau of Police Services: (201) 336-7700.
