DANBURY, Conn. – Ellen E. “Betty” Evans, of Danbury, died Sunday, April 3, after a brief illness. She was 86.
She was born March 12, 1930, in Liverpool, England. She was the daughter of Charles and Molly Whitworth. She immigrated to the United States in 1954, and settled in Danbury after her marriage to Ralph Evans in 1952. She was employed for 28 years with the Barden Corp. in Danbury, from which she retired.
In addition to her husband of 63 years, she is survived by her son, Lyndon Evans of Danbury; her niece, Dorothy; nephew, Alfie; and several great-nieces and great-nephews, all of England.
She was predeceased by her brothers Bill and Bert; and sisters Hilda and Gladys.
There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are requested to the Germantown Volunteer Fire Department, 36 Germantown Road, Danbury, CT 06810; the Danbury Hospital Development Fund (to benefit the hospital’s Cardiac Services), 24 Hospital Ave., Danbury, CT 06810; or to a charity of one’s choice.
