Jackson, who's a second-grader at the Lincoln Titus Learning Center, was joined by her family, teachers, BOCES administration and BOCES Board members as she received a certificate of recognition and a medal of honor at the award ceremony.

At the event, Lisa Hammel, BOCES’ Coordinator of the Local School Building Program, was the first to take to the podium to speak of Jackson’s character.

“Kimora is a wonderful girl who is well deserving of this honor,” Hammel said. “She is a kind and caring citizen in the Lincoln Titus community. Her smile lights up these hallways.”

Lina Daronco, Jackson’s teacher in the Learning Center, was next to tell the audience exactly why her student was selected to be a Student of Distinction.

“Kimora is a student who never gives up,” Daronco said. “She always does her best and is willing to help everybody out. She has shown amazing progress in her academics, and socially, during her time here at BOCES. She really stands out as a student who always wants to please everyone around her. She is friendly to everyone she meets and is a great role model for her peers.”

Kim Jackson, Kimora’s mother, expressed pride at her daughter’s accomplishments.

“I am so proud of Kimora,” said Jackson. “She has come a long way since coming to Lincoln Titus. Everyone has been so great to her. She loves waking up in the morning just to come to school. She is so encouraged and has come so far. I’m just so proud of her, words can’t even explain.”
