North Rockland Athletes Named Suez Senior Athletes Of Season

THIELLS, N.Y. -- SUEZ New York announced the overall female and male winners of the SUEZ Senior Athlete of the Season awards for the 2015 winter season and they are North Rockland High School's Gabby Cajou and Matthew Zugibe.

Cajou and Zugibe were selected from winners from each of Rockland's 11 schools in the Public School Athletic League. All of the winners from the three seasons -- fall, winter and spring -- will be honored at an awards breakfast on June 7.

Gabby helped her basketball team register a 20-4 record, the program's best record since 2001. She capped a four-year varsity career by averaging 17.5 points per game including more than 20 points in 10 different games. Gabby was named the Player of the League and earned All County and All Section honors.

Matthew was named All-American in the 100-meter breaststroke and placed second at the state meet in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke. During his five-year varsity career, the Raiders logged a 47-1 dual meet record and he captured six county individual titles and two sectional individual titles.
