Detective T.J. Cullen pulled over the Chevy conversion van on westbound Route 4 at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, Capt. Patrick Kissane said.
Cullen became suspicious of why Pedro Vicioso-Lima had gone to the Jerome Avenue area over the Bronx, Kissane said Friday.
Soon after, Officer Rick Hernandez brought K-9 Greener, who responded to the presence of drugs, the captain said.
Cullen then found the sophisticated, electronically-operated “trap” behind the TV / speaker unit mounted to the van's ceiling -- with $6,000 inside, he said.
After Vicioso-Lima was taken into custody, detectives obtained a search warrant.
They were joined by members of the depatment's General Investigations Bureau, and Emergency Services Unit, as well as patrol officers from Fort Lee and Bergenfield in searching his Spring Avenue home, Kissane said.
Inside a tiled hot club enclosure in the bathroom, they found $660,000 in cash, he said.
The money, along with the vehicles and boat, were seized as part of the investigation.
Vicioso-Lima was being held on $175,000 bail i the Bergen County Jail on money laundering-related charges.
