Mayor Robert White swore in new Capt. John Zotollo Jr. (operations division commander), Lt. Leigh Cadigan (patrol squad commander) and Sgt. Giuseppe Calfornia (patrol squad supervisor).

"As a former officer, I know how it feels to work hard, study and strive for advancement within the police department," White said. "It makes me happy to reward these officers for their efforts and success not only for themselves but for their families and our community, as well.

"They are all deserving of this most joyful accomplishment."

The promotions were necessary to fill a vacancy after the July 1 retirement of Capt. Robert McNally.

All three finished first on the New Jersey Civil Service Commission eligibility lists for their respective ranks.

"They will continue to serve our community and all our residents with professionalism, pride and dedication," Police Chief Robert Kugler said.
