Albany County resident Nicholas Camilli, age 24, of Loudonville, died Thursday, Oct. 26, in the two-car wreck on Old Niskayuna Road, according to Colonie Police.

Investigators said Camilli was driving his motorcycle northbound on Old Niskayuna Road at around 7:20 p.m. when a car made a left turn in front of him near W. Cobble Hill Road.

He collided with the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 79-year-old Loudonville man, was not injured.

“He was innocently driving through Loudonville where he was raised and went to school, when out of nowhere our lives were changed forever, changed in an instant,” Camilli’s mother, Angela DePasquale, wrote on a GoFundMe.

At the time of his death, Camilli was planning to become a business franchise owner while also awaiting the results of his New York State Police trooper exam. In 2022, he was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps.

DePasquale remembered her son as “a beautiful young man with a brilliant future.”

“He had the biggest heart and even bigger dreams,” she said. “Nicholas lit up any and every room he entered. He was always polite and smiling. Nicholas will forever be my hero and the light of my life.”

Over 80 people have donated to the GoFundMe campaign, which DePasquale said she created to help with the “most heart-breaking, unexpected” funeral costs.

Those who wish to donate can do so here.

Memorial services for Camilli had not been announced publicly as of Monday, Oct. 30.
