A 17-year-old from Temple Hills who is no stranger to law enforcement is behind bars following a robbery inside a convenience store in Hughesville in late December, according to authorities.

Investigators say that the teen entered the business brandishing a weapon and stole money from the register before fleeing a vehicle that was lying in wait for him.

The investigation led members of the Charles County Sheriff's Office to identify the Temple Hills teen as a suspect, and a search warrant led detectives to recover evidence that tied him to the robbery.

At the time of his arrest, officials noted that the 17-year-old was wearing an electronic monitoring system for a previous handgun charge.

The teen was charged as an adult with armed robbery, first-degree assault, and other offenses.

He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center without bond.

Anyone with information regarding the teen or robbery has been asked to contact Det. Baxley at the sheriff's office by calling (301) 609-6508.
