Students spend several weeks intensively preparing for the event. They conducting research, working in task forces, to write research papers and prepare their presentations with their peers.
The event culminates with a formal public presentation and a barrage of audience questions, which require the students to think on their feet.
This year, students took the podium to present on topics including water scarcity, global health, alternative energy, the environment and human rights.
“What they are learning is vital preparation for a generation of leaders who will have to bring knowledge, empathy and creative thinking to inescapable global challenges,” Head of School Tim Bazemore said in a statement.
