All drama students worked in shifts to scrub and wash cars along with keeping up with the regular Saturday routine of working on sets, props and costumes. Included among the vehicles were a Maserati and a boat.

The funds will help offset costs of the upcoming season. All performances will be held at the New Canaan High School auditorium.

The season kicks off with the upperclassmen's play “The Orphan Train." The play tells the story of nine orphans on an “orphan train” that left New York City on May 28, 1914, and traveled to Midwestern towns in search of homes for the orphaned children. Eight stories unfold, each a memorable surprise.

Performances will be held on Thursday Oct. 22, Friday Oct. 23, and Saturday Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. Tickets are currently available online at www.newcanaanhighschooltheatre.com.

The season continues with the underclassmen’s musical production of “Annie Jr." Little Orphan Annie charms hearts as she seeks to find her parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan.

Performances will be held on Friday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

In March, the NCHS will stage the winter musical, “Into the Woods." Incorporating the plots and characters of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales, it's an epic fairy tale about wishes, family and the choices we make. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

Performances will be from March 17 to March 19 at 7 p.m.

April brings the 27th annual Drama Festival. Students write one-act plays in which they cast, direct and act to make their ideas come alive on stage. Performances will be April 29 and 30 at 7 p.m.

The season ends with “A Day in Hollywood, A Night in the Ukraine." This is a musical comedy consisting of two independent one-act plays. The first act, “A Day in Hollywood," is a revue of classic Hollywood songs of the 1930s. The second act, “A Night in the Ukraine," is presented in the style of a Marx Brothers movie.

Performances will be June 2 and 3 at 7 p.m. and June 4 at 2 and 7 p.m.

The New Canaan High School auditorium is at 11 Farm Road.
