NEW CANAAN, Conn. — Students at New Canaan’s St. Luke’s raised more than $3,000 for Inspirica with their second annual fashion show.

“Your support means more than you know,” Jason Shaplen, CEO of Inspirica, said in thanking the students. “The fact that you care resonates with people you may never meet.”

The organization works with the homeless people in lower Fairfield County on issues of housing, work and education, children’s services and more. Learn more about the group here .

The fundraising fashion show is the brainchild of Christie Kuhner and the rest of the student-led St. Luke’s Life & Style Committee. Having the chance to help Inspirica was the inspiration behind the event, she said in a statement.

"I’ve worked with them in the past and was so impressed by what they do. They support families and help them get back on their feet.” Christie said.

"We are combining forces, so there are not only benefits to the clients at Inspirica who need resources, but also a great opportunity to raise awareness among our students about homelessness and public service in general. People in both organizations will be strengthened by this relationship,” Head of School Mark Davis said.

Students and faculty members served as the models for the event, and the clothes were provided by Mitchell's, Wishlist, the Darien Sport Shop, Caren Forbes, Togs and Suburban Couture.
