In the next few weeks, the school system will roll out Anonymous Alerts, a safety reporting mobile app. Parents, students and school personnel can download the app and use it to communicate with middle and high school officials about anything from student depression to family problems.

All reports will be anonymous, but submitters may add their identity and photos if they choose.

“School safety is a priority across the district,” said NPS School Preparedness Coordinator Joe Rios. “This new app will empower our students to come forward without fear of retribution by their peers. By receiving incident reports from students, we can apply resources quickly to avert potential safety issues.”

The system will operate between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Reports sent after 5 p.m. will be answered the next day.

Any emergencies should be directed to Norwalk Police Department by calling 911.

The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and the Google Chrome Store. From there, click to open the app and enter “norwalkps” as the username and password.

Students, parents and school personnel may also visit the Norwalk Public Schools website and click on Anonymous Alerts to report an incident.
