State lawmakers decided each of the six regional educational service centers will have the same start date, spring vacation and teacher training days. Each district also have five "flex days" that can be adopted without having to change the typical calendar, reported New Canaan Adverstiser.
Superintendent of Schools Bryan Luizzi said the flex days will extend Presidents Weekend to a week off and for Professional Learning days on the Friday before a long break, New Canaan Advertiser said.
The 2016-17 academic year for New Canaan public schools will start on Sept. 1 and tentatively end June 16 with a half day. Schools will close on Election Day statewide.
