Students From St. Luke's Of New Canaan Honored With Halo Award

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. — Ridgefield's Thrown Stone Co-Artistic Director Jason Peck and his St. Luke's of New Canaan students were honored at the 13th Annual Halo Awards, hosted by the Seven Angels Theatre.

Sixty-four schools and 200 productions participated in the awards, recognizing the best in high school theatre in Connecticut.

Peck is in his first year as Director of Theatre Arts for St. Luke’s School and this is the first year the school has participated in the Halos.

The department received 18 nominations, with Nick Jodka winning Best Leading Actor in a Musical for "Avenue Q" and Lisa Loomer winning Best Contemporary Play for "Distracted."

Best Contemporary Play was the top award of the evening.

“Distracted is such a challenging and provocative text,” Peck said.

“It demands bravery, nuance, and specificity from the actors. We’re so proud of this recognition.”

Next for Peck is a July new play reading series to launch at Thrown Stone, a professional theatre company he helped found in Ridgefield this year.

Then in August, Peck's St. Luke’s production of "Avenue Q" heads to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.
