Study Program For High Schoolers Offered In New Canaan

NEW CANAAN, Conn. - For the fourth academic year, Successful Study Skills 4 Students will host a study-skills workshop for all high school students in the New Canaan area.

The workshop is scheduled from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Sept. 15, 22 and 29 at St. Luke's School, 377 N. Wilton Road. In order to provide concentrated attention to each student, the class size is limited to 15.

The workshops are aimed at getting students ready for the academic challenges of high school and helping them benefit from proven strategies to help manage both time and work.

"This is our fourth academic year offering the S4 Study Skills workshop to both middle and high school students," said Jim Yavenditti, director of studies at St. Luke's in a statement. "Past attendees have returned to classes with clearly enhanced study skills and tools based on this solid, evidence-based program - and it's reflected in their attitude and performance."

The S4 program is founded on educational research and evidence-based studies. Its highly interactive approach demonstrates how to apply a student's own curriculum and course material with the taught methodologies and systems.

Taught by accredited teachers, the S4 program engages students in active participation. It aims to teach students learn skills that are essential for successful learning, such as goal-setting, time management, note-taking methods, asking questions, active reading strategies, test and exam preparation strategies and more.

The S4 program also provides take-home materials that complement and outline the workshop content. These materials allow parents to follow their child's progress and provide ongoing support at home.
