RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- If you can't get enough of Olympic luger Tucker West and his matchmaking dad, they will make a joint appearance Tuesday morning on NBC's "Today," the show announced via Twitter.
Brett West made headlines Sunday after announcing to the world on the "Today" show that his son Tucker, at 18 the youngest U.S. luger on the Olympic team, was very single. He urged "young ladies" to reach out via social media because his son is shy.
The father-son interview is expected in the 8 a.m. segment of the morning news show.
In an interview Monday evening with NBC Connecticut, Tucker announced that his dad is on social media "probation" for making the embarrassing announcement.
But the teen also admitted to getting two dozen marriage proposals -- "I'll have my dad sort through those," he said. (Watch the full interview here at the NBC 30 website.)
Olympic figure skater Jason Brown, who knows a bit about being a social media phenomenon, offered some advice to Tucker West via "Today."
Enjoy the moment in the spotlight, said Brown, who is a star after more than 3.7 million viewers checked out a YouTube video of his skating.
“Just have fun with it and enjoy it — you’ve got to embrace it, and I think he’s done that,” Brown told "Today." “Take the time to reach out to your fans and say ‘thank you’ to them and joke around with them, because it is amazing to have fans who care enough to message you like that.”
West finished 22nd in the men's luge, with a combined time of 3:31.217 from his four runs. He was 3.691 seconds behind the gold medalist, Felix Loch, 24, of Germany.
