New Canaan Duo Named Girls Lacrosse All-Americans

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. - Nine girls' varsity lacrosse players from six Fairfield County schools were named 2012 First Team All-Americans by United States Lacrosse, according to a press release. Three schools had a pair of teammates honored as All-Americans.

New Canaan's high-scoring duo of senior Sarah Mannelly and junior Olivia Hompe, who helped the Rams secure the Class M state title Saturday, were named First Team All-Americans. It was the second year in a row Mannelly was named to the All-American First Team.

Junior Taylor Hardison and senior Emily Tropsa of conference champion Darien High also were named First Team All-Americans.

Fairchester Athletic Association champion Greenwich Academy placed teammates Emily Conway and Mary Taussig on the team. Class L state champion Greenwich High School senior Claire Feeney also made the cut.

Rounding out the First Team All-Americans were Wilton High School junior Casey Pearsall and Fairfield Ludlowe senior Sarah Nesi.

Players who were named All-American Honorable Mentions include Jessie Ambrose and Alexandra Crofts of Staples High (Westport), Tori Dunster of Greenwich High, Jenna Fritts of Darien High and Alli Sciarretta of the Convent of the Sacred Heart (Greenwich).
