New Canaan 7th Grade Girls Basketball Team Goes 2-2

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The New Canaan 7th grade girls travel basketball team had a strong performance as the hosts of the Joe Coppo Basketball Tournament last  weekend.

Led by coach Jana Jagodzinski, New Canaan went 2-2 against teams from Scarsdale, Mamaroneck, Wilton and Darien. 

In a strong opening game vs. Scarsdale, New Canaan won 20-16 with standout performances from Olivia Cosco (9 points), Caroline Schuh (4 points), and Katelyn Sparks.  VeNae Rosdahl and Kendall Patten played well on defense.

New Canaan lost its second game 25-14 to Mamaroneck despite a strong performance by K.K.  Marcus (7 points).

In its third game, Wilton beat New Canaan, 30-16. Marcus had another strong performance along with Ryann Mushkin, Katelyn Sparks, Chloe Shorten, and Caroline Schuh. 

In the final game, New Canaan beat Darien, 29-12, holding the Blue Wave to just three points until the third quarter.  Olivia Cosco and Marcus had big games at guard (16 points and 9 points respectively), along with Chloe Shorten at center. Ryan Mushkin, Emily Shizari, and newcomer Lauren Sampson also played well for New Canaan.
