New Canaan Baseball Team Raises More Than $8K For Multiple Myeloma

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The New Canaan High School baseball team raised more than $8,000 for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation when it ran at a Spartan Race Sunday at Citi Field.

The Rams won the "fastest team" category for the MMRF wave at the race. The players and coach Mitch Hoffman raised $8,400 for the cause.

The day after, the Rams remained hot on the diamond with a 8-7 walkoff victory over Greenwich. Rob Jones hit a two-out, two-strike, two-run home run to stun the Cardinals in a game played at Mead Park.

New Canaan (12-3 overall and 11-2 in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference) travels to Wilton on Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. contest. The Rams are seeded third in the race for the league playoffs, one-half game behind Norwalk.
