New Canaan Country School Boys Go Undefeated In Weekend Squash Event

GREENWICH, Conn. – Greenwich Academy won the Girls Division 1 while Brunswick's boys won the Division 2 competition last weekend at the U.S. Middle School Team Squash Championships at Yale University in New Canaan.

Greenwich Academy Green defeated Agnes Irwin in the championship match, 5-0. Greenwich Academy’s winners in the finals were Claire Aube, Emma Mactaggart, India Stephenson, Haley Aube and Lucy Stephenson.

The GA girls won three matches, all by 5-0 scores, in the 16-team tournament. Harbour Woodward was GA’s other player in the tournament.

Brunswick’s B won the Division II tournament, beating Rye Middle School in the final, 3-2. Brunswick’s roster was P.K. Keller, Jamie Polak, William George, Ben Powis, Lance Johnson and Brendan Wise.

Greenwich Academy Gold finished third in Divsion I after losing to Agnes Irwin in the semifinals, 4-1. In the third place match, GA Gold defeated SCH Academy of Philadelphia, 3-2. GA’s winners included were Sydney Bednar, Evie Sall and Anna Schaftel. GA’s other players were Kathryn Wright, Ashton Borcherding and Mackenzie Faughnan.

Greenwich Country Day School fell in the Boys Division 1 final to Haverford A, 3-2. GCD’s winners in the finals were William Holey and Connor Santry. Other members of the GCD roster were Nicholas Spizzirri, Dana Santry, Eliot Spizzirri, Tarquin Hanson and Peter Keigher.

New Canaan Country School went 3-0 in the Boys Division III tournament.New Canaan’s players were Max Ballentine, Jack Schulz, Carson Teitler, T.J. Stoker, Henry Zinn, George Thompson and John Ventura.
