New Canaan won golds in the boys and girls novice quads. Gaby Kulesz, Caroline Murphy, Margaret Seeman and Emma Clay poweed the girls, while David Orner, Paul Gelhaus, Dan Cone and Philipp Bogdanov rowed for the boys.
Bea Tobey and Veronica Hoeft crushed the competition in the lightweight double beating the nearest competition by over 16 seconds in a brisk headwind. Blake Lange and Merritt Culman followed with a gold medal effort for the men.
New Canaan showed its depth with wins in the junior varsity quads for both men and women. Medals were given for both heats so Alex Yanoff, Lauren Lowe, Halley King and Quinn Gruver as well as Ekaterina Dyakova, Paulomi Rao, Veronica Hoeft and Jenna Froland earned their trip to the medal stand with wins in both heats.
Justin Vasquez, Ross Hurlock, Zev Koffsky and Griffen Daniel showed depth on the boys side as well.
Later that day, Ross Hurlock and Zev Koffsky earned a gold a second time in the men’s jv double as did Lauren Bell and Quinn Gruver, who won gold in the girls jv double.
In the Men’s Varsity Double, Graham Mink and his partner Mike Senf easily marched through the competition for the gold while boat mates in the quad Stephan Gerasimoff and Glen Wolyner earned silver. This group would later go on to win the Men’s quad handily as did Cara Holzel, Mary Campbell, Claire Campbell and Bea Tobey in the Women’s Varsity quad.
Andrew Langalis, Nick Walsh, Riley O’Neill, Aiden Bridwell and their cox Sheetal Atole brought home gold medals in the Men’s JV 4. With just two practices under their belt, Carson West, Jackson Voight, Jack Hall-Tipping, Max Kantor and their cox Ashwini Rao stroked the newly put together Men’s Varsity 4 and rowed to within seconds of gold, earning silver.
Hunter Danforth, Logan Forsyth, Peter Lavieri, Finn Conley and their cox Claire Hall-Tipping as well as David Dayya, Riley Marsh, Perry Berringer and Peter Zamsky along with their cox Karl Catone also earned silver medals for their efforts in the boys junior varsity 4.
Luke Brand, Connor DeMayo, Owen Kennelly, Jeremy Schwartz, Robert Sillo, Griffen Hall and Luca Furst and their cox Charlotte Rosenberg earned a bronze in the boys junior varsity 8.
Cara Hoelzl earned silver in the junior varsity single while teammate Mary Campbell rowed through choppy water and heavy winds to earn bronze in the varsity event.
Travis Anderson won the bronze in the boys jv single and Blake Lange, in the last race of a very long day won the bronze in the men’s lightweight single.
