New Canaan Diving Team Second At Zone Meet

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Whirlwind Diving of the New Canaan Y finished second in the team scoring at the USA Diving Summer Junior Zone A championships last week in Christianburg, Va.

Whirlwind’s 17-member team compiled 171 points and finished second to Montgomery Dive Club, which finished with 282. The Marlins Diving Club of Greenwich took third with 170.

Whirlwind qualified 15 divers for the Age Group National Champions or Junior National Championships next month in Greensboro, N.C. First-time qualifiers include Piper Van Wagenen, Kevin Bradley, Anne Farley, Allison Courtney, Cameron Rhind and Kirsten Parkinson.

Nine Whirlwind divers who have participated in previous Summer National Championships qualified again this year. They include Genevieve Angerame, Owen Stevens, Wiley Schmidt, Timmy Luz, Kylie Towbin, Rachel Burston, Steven Kreuch, Bobby Ross and Sean Burston.
