New Canaan Gymnast Takes Second at State Meet

STAMFORD, Conn. – New Canaan gymnast Caroline Fitzpatrick finished second all-around in the Level 10 state championships at Pomperaug High School. The runner-up finish sends Fitzpatrick, who trains at Arena Gymnastics in Stamford, to the regional competition on April 20.

Fitpatrick finished with an overall total of 37.075. Jaida Lawrence won the meet with an all-around total of 37.550.

Fitpatrick finished second on the balance beam and uneven bars and third on the floor exercise.  Her best score was the balance beam, where she posted a 9.5. The difference between Fitzpatrick and Lawrence was razor-thin on most events, but on the vault Lawrence posted an 9.875 total while Fitzpatrick had 9.075.

The New Canaan junior will head next to the regionals in Andover, Mass.
