NEW CANAAN, Conn. – You could say Lauren Greig is a bit of a running junkie. She has run six different marathons since 2007. And shortly after moving to New Canaan from Manhattan last summer, she and her husband jumped into the local running scene by participating in the Four on the Fourth in New Canaan and the Turkey Trot in Ridgefield.

The hedge fund analyst got her first taste of the Boston Marathon in 2010 and will be back for more this year. She has run the New York Marathon twice, Washington, D.C., Chicago and even Paris. But the allure of Boston called Greig back.

“It’s such a great race, but I didn’t do as well as I would have liked to have done,” Greig said. “I certainly hope to do better this year, but mostly I wanted to go back simply because it’s a great marathon.”

She said one of the main reasons she wanted to give Boston another shot is because of the enthusiasm of the people involved in it and in everyone who watches it. “The thing that stood out the most was just the tremendous support from the crowd,” Greig said. “I couldn’t even believe how loud they were at certain spots.”

Greig caught the running bug as a sprinter and a long jumper in high school. And since graduating from Princeton she has kept up with running.

“I just had some friends encourage me to try it, and as I got to running longer distances than I had in the past I really got to enjoy it,” she said.
