Here are the results:

Class LL:

  • Darien beat Shelton, 39-7

Class L:

  • New Canaan beat North Haven, 42-35

Class M:

  • Brookfield beat New Fairfield, 21-14

Class S:

In Class LL, No. 2-ranked Darien swamped Shelton, which had been the top-ranked going into the final game. Darien finishes the season with a record of 12-0. The Blue Wave lost in the championship game in the past two years to archrival New Canaan (in a different division).

For Shelton, it was the team's only loss and it finishes the season at 12-1. It was the second year in a row Shelton lost in the championship game, falling last year to Xavier. This year's game was played at Willow Brook Park in New Britain.

In Class L, New Canaan, another traditional powerhouse in football, finishes the season with a record of 11-1. Its only loss was to archrival Darien, 28-21, on Thanksgiving Day in the FCIAC championship game. But the win Saturday gave the third state title in a row to New Canaan, which has won seven football championships in the past 10 years. North Haven finishes the season at 12-1. The game was played at West Haven High School.

In Class M, Brookfield was the reigning Class M champion, and the team was making its third straight appearance in the final. The two rivals met in their season-opener, with Brookfield going away with the win. Both teams finish the year at 11-2. The championship game was played at West Haven High School.

In Class S, new state champions No. 2-ranked Bloomfield finish the season with a record of 13-0, while top-ranked Ansonia fell to 12-1 on the year. The championship game was played at Willow Brook Park in New Britain.
