New Canaan's Milano Commits to Middlebury

NEW CANAAN, Conn. — New Canaan High quarterback Matt Milano broke just about every Rams record possible — and a few state records, too — in his high school career. With his senior year in the books, Milano has committed to Middlebury College, according to several published reports .

Milano guided the Rams to the Class L state title game for the second year in a row under his watch and the sixth year in a row overall. The Rams went 22-4 with Milano as a starter.

He surpassed several career marks set by New Canaan legend Kurt Horton this season, records that had stood for 40 years. Milano set New Canaan records for attempts and completions in a game, season and career, yards passing in a season and career, and touchdowns in a season and career. Milano also set the state single-season record in 2010 for most passing touchdowns with 42.

Middlebury College is a Division III school in the New England Small College Athletic Conference. Milano will now be teammates with a former rival, Norwalk High tight end Gil Araujo. He'll also now be rivals with a former teammate, Rams wide receiver Patrick Newton, who will attend Trinity College.

Main Street Connect named Milano its Fairfield County football most valuable player after the Rams' appearance in the Class L state championship. They fell to Daniel Hand, 34-10.
