Hediger was born Nov. 23, 1928.  He served as a Seabee with the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was the proprietor of Hediger's Fuel Oil in East Rutherford from 1953 until retiring in 1995. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph's R.C.
