Redding Woman Seeks More Volunteers At Danbury Shelter: Napping Is OK DANBURY, Conn. — Two volunteers: That’s all that’s needed to host about 25 homeless people each night at the Dorothy Day overflow shelter at the First Congregational Church in Danbury. And Redding resident Peggy Zamore is making it her mission to spread the word about this essential need in the community. The overflow shelter is open seven days a week from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. in winter through mid-April. Brookfield's New Police Chief Warns Of Stolen Car Crime Spree In Area BROOKFIELD, Conn. — James Purcell, a veteran officer with 33 years on the force and Brookfield’s new chief, said people shouldn’t feel intimidated by police officers. “If an officer is in uniform, it means he’s working. Blumenthal Takes On Trump Policies After Tour Of Stamford Veterans Clinic STAMFORD, Conn. — As U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal toured the Stamford Outpatient Veterans Clinic on Thursday, he had the opportunity to thank veterans for their service and explain a plan to invest $10 billion to modernize VA facilities nationwide. The modernization plan was unveiled last month by Senate Democrats. Darien Kids Enjoy Lion Dance To Ring In The Chinese New Year With A Roar DARIEN, Conn. — With no school in session on Tuesday, the Darien Library was packed with several dozen kids for a program called the Chinese Lion Dance Performance to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The program was put on by dancers from the New York Cultural Center in Manhattan who performed in bright sequined red and gold costumes, using ribbons and other props. Danbury Native Seeks Help As He Awaits Life-Saving Lung Transplant DANBURY, Conn. — Danbury native Patrick "P.J." Mannion has faith that he will get the help — and the transplant — that he needs after being diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a life-threatening lung disease.
