Lane Reopens As Cleanup Continues On I-95 In Bridgeport After Rollover

updated: BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — One lane of I-95 had reopened by late Sunday as cleanup continued from a tractor-trailer rollover between exits 27 and 27A in Bridgeport that spilled antifreeze on the highway, state police said.

The crash at about 6:20 p.m. involved several vehicles and caused traffic delays for hours, state police said. 

State police were on the scene along wth officials from the state Department of Transportation and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, which was cleaning up the spill. 

original story: BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — I-95 northbound was closed in Bridgeport between exits 27 and 27A due to an overturned tractor-trailer early Sunday evening, according to the Department of Transportation.  

The accident occurred at about 6:20 p.m., DOT said, and motorists should expect big delays in the area. 

Other motor vehicles were involved in the crash, state police said 

The tanker was carrying antifreeze, and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was enroute to the scene, state police said.

Minor injuries were reported, state police said.

It's unknown when the accident scene will be cleared.

Traffic was backed up to Fairfield on the northbound side of I-95, with rubber-necking delays reported on the southbound side, too, DOT said.
