SOUTHINGTON— A woman was attacked by a pit bull on North Summit Street in Southington on Thursday morning, police said.
An officer who responded to the area was also bitten by the dog, according to police.
One year one of the men was grabbing the bags at the top and while doing a pivot of about 120 degrees the bottom of the bag failed and spewed leaves from the curb to the truck in a good 10 foot radius. Did he handle the next bag any better? No,.
I'll be out there! This time I'm taking a pic with my cell moments before they get to my house. I hope I don't have to take an ' After ' shot as well.
Wasn't even my bags ! View Comment
' he had hidden in the Bates Court garage near the train station because of damage done to his truck in the past, police say. While there, the driver saw a man walk up to his truck .' Reads like he was watching from a vantage point near by.
Did you ever find out if he was sitting in the truck when this occurred? View Comment
I stopped going to Taylor Farm with my dogs, years ago for that very same reason. A few times the lot was empty and I thought oh, okay, today's a good day to come and enjoy the weather and my dogs. only to find that after a loop around the park, there they were, again. One guy picked up his boarder collie and 2 pit type dogs were jumping on him trying to get to his dog and the onwners only called out' he's okay he's just curious. Well they were more than curious and you could see their frustration at not getting to the dog build up and their attempts at doing so ramp up to a point where they were circling and jumping in a frenzy to the point you could see all the bad warning signs of aggression. The man managed to get his dog in the car and still these 2 dogs were there jumping at the back windows. The dog owners ignored the incident and sat at the picnic table mid field. I called 203-854-3240, no answer !
During all this I was able to get my 2 Labs into my car. I felt bad there was nothing I could possibly do to help the man with the boarder collie. View Comment
@ Lisa Rush,
Good post. ( be prepared for the bully breed defenders )
Let' s for a second just pretend that all dogs have the same traits and temperament and(worst of all to me ) Gameness.
Gameness that willingness to bite and hang on (not lock the jaw, they can't. it's a desire to not let go no matter what.)
Why on earth would you want (especially if you have kids in the home)an animal that if it has the desire for that split second in their life of maybe 14 years, to go at you? There are so many breeds to choose from.
Pick one you at least ' think ' you'd be able to defend yourself from in the event something goes wrong. View Comment
That's an interesting point you brought up about the Police not being able to contact the DPW's (because it was ?) at lunch time. Don't all these or most of these vehicles have radios? I've gotten a no answer from the DPW's. but these dept.'s surely have back lines to communicate with as well as knowing each others radio frequencies. How hard is it for a cruiser to find a DPW's truck? I'd think the DPW's would make a great second set of eyes for the NPD.
Harry, are you listening? Integrate all lines of communication interdepartmentally, ( BOE, NFD, NPD, DPW. and so on.) at least. Car 54 where are you?? View Comment
Maybe, if we have to have wind damage to trees, it's better now with milder temps, than in the dead of winter. 40 mph gusts after midnight. surely must be some sort of litmus test as to whether the utilities did their due diligence, pruning. View Comment
Paranoia has finally set in. I've never posted on the Huffington Post or anywhere else under any name. This is what you might call( look out, another colloquialism ) My first rodeo.
' Do the math & Fall on your sword ' are a couple of the most common colloquialisms that you hear in everyday conversation.
Anybody can use any search engine and find a plethora on
,your name is most unique.
I'm sorry about your mother.
Do you now, somehow feel elevated by calling me names and accusing me of what you have broadcast all over the internet?
People usually attack from their fears ( oops another colloquialism ) You must look within grasshopper.
The woman was most likely bleeding out under the car, we should wait for a professional animal handler to come and tranquilize the dog or have the cop see if he couldn't ignore the dog, call for a bus and sit in his cruiser just watching? I'd chose saving a human over an animal any day. Whatever reason the dog had to ' lash out ' isn't a reason to allow his wishes come to fruition!
Then when the ambulance arrives on the scene, try and talk the dog into surrendering it's prey? So they can retrieve the mauled, mutilated, dismembered corpse?
Then what? Have an animal psychologist talk to the dog to see what's the matter? Maybe some community service time as he was misunderstood.

thanks. my point was 12345-6789 is the destination
I'd like to Not have to write Mr..&Ms. A. Barnstorrm XYZ Road, Norwalk, CT. 12345-6789
I'm older than the ZIP Code System, actually that was my motivation for replying at all, just trying to make somebody smile on a dark dreary day. View Comment
I can remember writing my return address on envelopes. Bridgeport 4, Conn.
Today, I don't understand why we need to write so much. The ZIP+4 has only one destination if it's residential anyway.
Posting to Broad River 06850-1234(example, in fact that is somebody's address) is only going to be delivered to 1234.
Auto Ins. co.'s. pay very close attention to your +4 ZIP. View Comment
Better do your math over and try using percentages rather than gross numbers.
first thing none of it can make sense seeing,....
The Pit Bull breed makes up 5-9.6% of the United States dog population. In 2007, there were above 72 million dogs in the United States provided by American Pet Products Manufacturers Association. That’s between 3,600,000 and 6,912,000 Pit Bull breed dogs in the United States.
Kids drowning in a 5 gal. pail goes to the same as bad owner does. you can't fix stupid.
7M pit bulls verses how many kids in cribs? Actually 50 kids dying in or of cribs sounds low.
well first you need to approximate how many palm trees, multiply that by the number of coconuts then recalculate that.
Drowning in a bath tub doesn't mean your bath tub killed you, it means you inhaled water. Hence water killed you but ti was probably drugs or alcohol or a stroke, heart attack etc. first you need to discover why they inhaled the water or fell below the water line. I bet many were due to sudden illness or suicide.
so on and so fourth with all your extrapolations.
anybody can twist numbers we see it all the time in polling and my 401b.
being a life coach I'd think you'd take a better tack with this.
ever wonder if you were a shut in for to long with 18 hour days as a caretaker?
go out and have some fun but don't buy a pit bull
we'll have to come up with a stat for how many purchased / recue pit bulls have killed their owner
and was their owner their first or last kill.
nobody is responding to you anymore and all you are doing is dying on your sword rather than being wrong or somewhat misguided or whatever.
the very simple fact is that these are very muscular diesel dogs and if they are or become aggressive and have a need to bite you, it's not going to be the bite of 100 different breeds. probably the most docile dog we think of may be the worst but it's bite is so minuscule it's never reported.
same as a portion of pit bull kills are not reported because the people don't want to have an investigation.
it's a Saturday night neither one of us should be home wondering about a dog breed neither of us own.
go out and have a beverage and lose the migraine. you're 62 and don't need to suffer migraines anymore. yet another misdiagnosed malady.
it's probably a tension or cluster headache. maybe it's the splenda you use
I know what you can do, buy a wisteria bush you've long for. Actually it could well be the Lyme's again .
