Well said Ken. The town made my life a nightmare by granting a change in use across the street. Now my house will never sell, and I am stuck living in a place I hate because P&Z thinks it's fun to allow massive businesses with no parking on a residential street. View Comment
When I can drive down the street the day after a storm ends, I'll pay more taxes. When the nightmare neighbor's delivery truck doesn't wake me up between 3:30 and 5 a.m. because of the ridiculous change in use P&Z allowed, I'll pay more taxes. When I don't wish I had bought a house in another town, I would be happy to pay more taxes. Now, I'm broke and stuck here. No way. View Comment
Norwalk did a good job. However, there should be a law about not parking on the street during a storm. Idiots got their cars plowed in, and then dumped tons of snow BACK on the roads when they cleared their cars. Make public lots and school lots free, and get the cars off the roads. View Comment
It won't hurt Norwalk, because they will just raise taxes again. My taxes were lowered because of the monstrosity that P&Z allowed to go up across the street from my home. Then they raised taxes so it was a complete wash. I would move in a minute, except P&Z has now made it IMPOSSIBLE for me to sell my house. View Comment
He is a miniature donkey, and they make great little companions. I'm glad to see the neighbors coming together, and I hope he will make a full and speedy recovery! View Comment
Ditto kybrdplyr. My quiet, residential street has turned into a nightmare that begins between 3:30 and 4:30 a.m. every day because P and Z decided a change of use would be fun for the neighbors. We are a parking lot for a huge business with a ton of traffic, and NOBODY cares. I hate living here, and I am stuck because of what the town has done to me. View Comment
And I don't know where you live in Norwalk, because my cell phone, internet, and TV all worked just fine. AT&T provides all of my service. View Comment
Well said, lwitherspoon. You can go to animal control and save a pet for next to nothing, plus get a certificate for a discounted spay/neuter. Or, you can adopt a fully vetted pet from one of the local rescues for well under the cost of an exam and spay at a local vet. Mr. Kaufman neglects to mention the huge dangers of parvovirus, ringworm, intestinal parasites, and serious genetic anomalies that come with animals mass produced in puppy mills. He should donate that ridiculous amount of money to one of the local rescue groups. View Comment
I am so tired of picking up soda can rings and garbage while I am walking my dog, while constantly telling her to "DROP" the disgusting chicken bones that people throw all over the street. What is up with that? And people who DON'T pick up after their dogs on the street and in the dog park should ALSO be ticketed. How about the slobs that buy lottery tickets and phone cards at the convenience stores and throw the losing tickets and trash on the ground (when there is a trash can a foot away)? Or the pigs that park on the street and then clean out their cars onto my LAWN. Go for it. Ticket them all. View Comment
That's funny. They want to raise my taxes 5% to pay for this. But I can't get out of my driveway when it snows because my road isn't "important" enough to plow. I would move in a heartbeat, but I can't because the monstrosity P&Z allowed to go up across the street from me has lowered my property value so much that I am underwater on the mortgage. "Although this may, at times, seem unfair to the residents of side streets, dead-end streets, or cul-de-sacs, main roads must remain open for emergency service personnel." As a person who lives on a side street, I can tell you, it doesn't just SEEM unfair. My taxes went WAY up last year, and my road was barely passable all winter. I had to buy studded snow tires to get out. There is no reason I should have to pay as much as I do in taxes and not have the road plowed (if at all) until 2 days after a storm. View Comment
I won't even bother getting into the puppy mill discussion. 20%-30% of the dogs in shelters are purebred. How many horrible articles are written every week about puppies that have been euthanized and thrown out like trash in city shelters all over the United States? How many dogs, INCLUDING puppies, are gassed every single day in the South? Want to do a service to animals? Los Angeles shelter facilities are FULL of small and designer breed dogs. Stop encouraging the mass production of puppies. Work with animal control facilities to showcase dogs (and cats) that are highly adoptable, but out of time because there is nowhere to house them. Have events that EDUCATE the public about how many wonderful animals are available without contributing to the pet overpopulation problem. THEN you will be running your store with love, and I would be proud to support it. View Comment
I'm happy to be supportive. I would never THINK of leaving my car on a city street during or after a storm. My main issue is that the city does a horrible job plowing the side street I live on, then claims they're coming back, and they don't. It's an exercise in frustration. Last night I actually had to get out of my car and tell a woman to back up. She wasn't moving. Apparently she thought I was going to back blindly onto Taylor Avenue in traffic. My street is BARELY passable for one car, and that's BEFORE today's accumulation. View Comment
South Street. 9:30 pm, not a plow in sight. I shoveled for 5 hours today, and when they come through, they are going to bury me. I HATE that I actually pay taxes in this town, to live on an impassible road. And this happens EVERY time it snows. View Comment
