Minimizing hours saves dollars, which makes a lot cents (sense). With the dawn of the age of the Internet we will soon be able to accomplish so much more online and save even more hours. Imagine. View Comment
I think this is a good time to find ways to collect readers opinions in a quick and easy way with regard to each article they read. Poll the reader to find out if they agree or not with the premise of the article or the conclusions that they suggest. Each line in the text could be a "agree" or "disagree" highlighted red or green. The news is too important to not take it seriously.
Overall, as an assistant football coach myself for two years (grade 7 & 8), I can say that there is a big difference in what kids talk about when they are at home and when they are all together on a football field. I have overheard kids talking when they don't know that coaches can hear what they are talking about. You have no idea how much kids know about what is on the internet. I seriously doubt that there is much that the coaches know that the kids don't already know.
I wonder if we all would benefit from riding on a school bus with high schoolers to hear just what they talk about.
As always, there are many sides of every story.

Something is fishy to me because they sure didn't seem "excited" on the news (no spring in their step, no elevates eyebrows, etc) and their comments about giving most of it to charity seem ridiculous when you consider all of the truly good things that you can do with money. N offense to charity but investing $100 million is a great responsibility and a great challenge. It is a wonderful thing to get to decide how to put that money to use. If a small portion of the profits made each year is given away, then this money could last a long time and do a lot of good. Perhaps this is a good time to sit down with yourself, your family and your friends to really explore your thoughts about money. If they truly bought the ticket and if they truly won, then good for them and good for us all. The lottery makes a lot of money each year for providing a service to everyone - giving everyone "hope that they too could win". If they cheated to win, then they will suffer the consequences and we all will suffer too. We trust that the lottery is honest and that there is no way to cheat the system. So, I agree that something is fishy in this whole story and I hope those who are responsible for investigating do check into the exact details so we can all be genuinely happy for these three lucky gentlemen.
Here's an idea for investing the money: set up a new bank to lend the money to homeowners and businesses in the Fairfield County area. View Comment
Congratulations Bob on your award from the realtors association! That sounds like a great accomplishment indeed. Keep up the great work! How about we all meet at the bowling alley on rainy Sunday mornings instead of at the softball field?

I pick up trash endlessly along the road and "in the road.". I also have been known to clean a road sign. Would anyone like to partner with me (and bring a pickup truck) and clean the road signs and straighten them? I have put rocks around the base of our road sign so people stop knocking it over and for a year now that has worked!! I decorated around my mailbox with lots of flowers so that passersby see a pretty entryway to my house. I cut down a 1000 sf prickerbush thicket right on the roadside and I've removed many weed plants that were crawling up the telephone pole support wires. I have cut down trees that have fallen into the road with my chainsaw. The message in all of this is that you can turn your trip to the exercise gym into something real by getting outside and sweating while you do landscaping work. I stay thin and trim without waiting all that time and gas going to gym. Would anyone like to help clean and straighten the signs with me (I'm serious)? Enjoy Easton :-) View Comment
I have been sensitive to PI my whole life and jewel weed never helped. You are welcome to try it but I never saw any relief. Not many people get it as bad as I do where my skin bubbles up and then it spreads throughout my body. As a child it would put me out of commission for two entire weeks of sheer pain and agony. The shots at the doctor work the fastest and are most effective, but are expensive. However, 3 days for a total cure is a lot better than 14 or more. The best cure is preventative - to teach people how to identify it. I spray the yard and anyone who wants me to spray to dry up the poison ivy plant all the way down to the roots. Early May is the best time to start and it will take three times to spray over the course of the month.
For short term remedy, anything that removes the itch is what I would recommend. Anything that has "caine" in it's name is great. I had a doctor prescribe sulfur (only $5) and that dried up the PI in less than 5 days. There are naturopathic sulfur pellets that are available at Whole Foods that also work as well as the pills. .... So much more to share...
