First, when you say the "diocese", you should state the religion since more than Catholics use that term. The Democrats in Congress were the ones who took $75 BILLION from the health, benefits and retirement funds of the carriers and used that money for other purposes, mainly vote-buying. Then they required ONLY the USPS to fund those same benefits, etc. at 80%, while EVERY OTHER US Gov't Agency only has to fund at the 20% level. Why? Because at that time, the USPS was the only agency making money! They did to the USPS what they've done to Social Security and Medicare - Screw the people who built it so they could personally benefit by it. This is why there NEEDS to be TERM LIMITS!!!! Well, Dan Hoffkins, you could have received $1,000 for that shotgun if you'd also 'done the right thing' and taken it to a licensed gun dealer (like Bob's in Darien) and it would have been sold to someone LEGALLY who would have taken good care of a very fine shotgun. I hope when the shooter is found, he is prosecuted under Criminal Law 53-202 which requires a MANDATORY 5 YEAR SENTENCE! But I will guarantee that neither the Attorney General of CT nor any Assistant State's Attorneys will charge the shooter under this statute because they NEVER have!!! The politicians and prosecutors say they are tough on crime - BUT THEY ARE NOT! They ignore the law when it's convenient. If you don't believe me - ask one! Call the AG's office, talk to an ASA, or call your rep. I've talked to Sen. Bob Duff and Rep. Larry Cafero and neither has an answer. Mayor Dick Moccia can't tell me why either - but he's a member of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns and doesn't push to prosecute the offenders under our existing laws - some of the toughest in the US! Our police do the best they can with the poor leadership they have had in Rilling and Moccia. The cops will be in their cars next to smokers who throw lit butts out the window and they don't do anything 'cause nothing will happen in court. We have VERY SEVERE gun laws and penalties, but Moccia won't push for the Assistant State's Attorneys to prosecute them severely, he just makes noises and wants more laws against the law-abiding citizens - oh that's right, he's one of Bloomberg's lapdogs. Why don't any of the 'witnesses' report anything to the cops? Because they'd be reporting - 'squealing' - on a friend/relative/running buddy and they don't have enough pride/guts/courage/principles to do that. Many have been brought up in the "Entitlement Society' started by Lyndon Johnson and perpetuated by the Democrats and the 'Race Pimps', like Sharpton, Jackson, and Rangel that they think everything should be given to them and most are unwilling to work for it, unfortunately. The citizens of Norwalk only deserve the kind of city they are willing to live in - if they don't care or are unwilling to stand up for something better, then no one else should be asked to change it for them. And the day I retire is the day I'm headed out of this state to a lower cost-of-living, a lower crime rate, and one where law-and-order and personal liberty is high on the agenda - and live among people who feel the same. When the State's Attorneys finally decide to prosecute gun offenders under the CT Law 53-202 (h), (i) and (j), which imposes a MANDATORY 5 YEAR SENTENCE for ANY gun crime, maybe the gun violence in this state will go down! CT Law 53 has been used in other states to reduce crime almost immediately wherever it was USED, but our present Attorney General and his Assistants - including Blumenthal, who got the law passed - have NEVER used it in a court case. Evidence the lack of any criminal charged in Norwalk - you hear about 'gun charges' but only a few years, NEVER 5 YEARS. Ask the prosecutor, "Why not?" Hold their feet to the fire as well. I'm a LEGAL gun owner and want our state officials to truly ENFORCE our present laws to stop these acts. More laws against law-abiding citizens do NOT stop crime - putting the real criminals in jail will! Stop worrying about jailing the kid with the marijuna and jail the one with the gun!
