Air Quality Alert Issued As Rain Expected To Hit New Canaan

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- A heavy ozone layer in the atmosphere has resulted in an air quality alert being issued for Fairfield County, before rain is expected to move in and help remove the mass, according to the National Weather Service.

An air quality alert means that ozone within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards for people with asthma and other breathing problems.

Residents can expect partly cloudy skies Wednesday afternoon before thunderstorms move into the area in the evening with a 50 percent of rain. Temperatures will remain seasonal with a high near 84 and a low around 67.

Thursday brings more of the same with a 40 percent of rain forecast for the morning and afternoon before skies become partly cloudy during the evening. Highs remain near 84 with lows near 60.

Sunny skies return on Friday with slightly lower temperatures with a high near 76 and a low around 58 degrees.
