The National Weather Service said the weather is about to make a big switch. First, a Hazardous Weather Outlook issued for Fairfield County warns of severe thunderstorms for Wednesday evening, with damaging wind gusts.

And there is a 40 percent chance of snow Friday, as temperatures plunge back below freezing.

Here is the weather forecast for the rest of the week, from the National Weather Service:

A party cloudy day with a high in the upper 50s on Tuesday will give way to rain, mainly after 9 p.m. Tuesday. There could be patchy fog as temps drop into the 40s overnight.

There's a 50 percent chance of rain on Wednesday, with thunderstorms possible that could produce gusty winds. Temperatures will continue to soar, hitting an unseasonable high of 65 to perhaps 70 degrees.

Showers will continue into the night, with thunderstorms possible with strong winds and overnight lows near 40.

Thursday will be mostly sunny but cooler with a high near 45 degrees before temperatures plunge into the mid-20s by night-time.

On Friday, there is a 40 percent chance of snow, with a high near 35 degrees. Overnight lows will plunge into the teens.

Saturday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 34 degrees.
