More Heat For New Canaan Before Rainstorms Head Back In

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Get ready to head for the beach or an air-conditioned space as 90 degrees temps will continue Wednesday afternoon and Thursday as high pressure moves over the area, according to the National Weather Service.

Residents will want to head for the local ice cream store to cool off from the sizzling temperatures expected until Friday.

Humidity levels Wednesday will be low, then start to increase on Thursday, with stray showers or thunderstorms possible Thursday afternoon and night.

It will be time to pull out the umbrellas on Friday as showers and thunderstorms usher in a cold front.

Friday's showers and thunderstorms may include heavy rains that could produce flooding and strong, gusty winds, the National Weather Service said.

There is a 60 percent chance of rain after 10 a.m. on Friday, with rainfall amounts between a quarter- and half-inch possible. 

Friday night, residents can expect a 50 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms.

Temperatures will return to near seasonable levels over the weekend with highs in the mid-80s.
