The National Weather Service warned residents of Fairfield County of the dangers of the big chill. Temperatures of 5 to 15 degrees are combining with northwest winds of 15 to 20 mph, with gusts of up to 35 mph, to produce wind chills of 0 to -10 degrees.
Such cold temperatures can lead to frostbite or hypothermia for anyone exposed to the cold. The dangers of both frostbite or hypothermia as well as how to identify and treat them can be found here on The Daily Voice.
Anyone in need of a warming center can find a list by calling 211 or checking its website. Information about overnight shelters can be found here.
If you do head outside, take some photos and send them along to The Daily Voice to be published in our snow day gallery.
