Snow Could Close Out Rainy Week In New Canaan

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — It is unseasonably warm across Fairfield County as the week begins, but it could feel a lot more like winter by Friday with snow showers in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather for Tuesday is slated to be rainy, with a high temperature in the mid-50s, according to the weather service. 

The rain will continue Tuesday night, with the area shrouded in patches of fog while temperatures hover near 50 degrees. 

Rain will continue Wednesday, with fog possible through the morning. Showers will continue into the afternoon with thunderstorms possible as temperatures stay in the mid-40s. The National Weather Service said there is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon and evening with the main threat from damaging winds.

The chance of rain is 60 percent with up to a quarter-inch of rain, more with thunderstorms.

On Thursday, it will be sunny with highs in the 40s again. But temperatures will plunge by Thursday night into the mid-20s.

On Friday, there is a 30 percent chance of snow in the afternoon with high temperatures of just 35 degrees.

Friday night will turn much colder, with a low near 20 degrees.
