Cuomo Reportedly Tries To Lure Fairfield's GE To Westchester

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo visited top General Electric executives last month as part of an ongoing campaign to lure the company's headquarters from Fairfield, according to a story by POLITICO New York.

Cuomo, visited the company's Fairfield location July 30, where he and several aides met with top GE executives about a possible move to Westchester County and incentives New York might offer, the story said.

GE's Chief Executive Officer Jeff Immelt of New Canaan was not at the meeting, but reportedly he and Cuomo have spoken by phone about the possible relocation, the story said.

Company officials started talking about moving their headquarters out of Connecticut after Gov. Dannel Malloy pushed through a budget with more than $1 billion in tax hikes, the story said.
