Main Street Drivers Inc. will send two drivers within 30 minutes notice to any location – whether a bar, restaurant or country club – to pick up and transport home anyone whose driving may be impaired.

Main Street Drivers was named by Long Island's Dan’s Papers as the Best Car/Limo Service in the Hamptons for two consecutive years in 2012 and 2013.

One driver escorts the client home in the family car, while the other follows behind to bring the driver back. The service costs $40 for the initial pick-up; total cost is based on mileage back to the client’s final destination.

Main Street Drivers is the creation of James Hirtenstein, who since 1996 has been president of Baby-Safe Inc., a full-service child safety company servicing the entire tri-state area. The company baby-proofs homes, conducts background checks on caregivers, and installs pool fencing.

“After 18 years of protecting infants, we thought the time was right to protect their parents as well,” Hirtenstein said in a statement.

Main Street drivers are all bonded, insured, personally interviewed, and road tested. Many are retired detectives, police officers and first responders familiar with safety and navigating the area’s tricky roads.

It is also available to drive residents to and from the airport or around town to help with errands.

Main Street Drivers is headquartered at Harbor Point in Stamford. The telephone number is 888-327-4460.
