End Allergies Together Group Serves Up Dinner Discussion In Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. -- For its first fundraising event, the newly created End Allergies Together presents a dinner program Saturday in Stamford with three food allergy experts.

Sheinelle Jones, news anchor for NBC News’ “Weekend TODAY” whose children have food allergies, leads the panel discussion and dinner event, starting at 6 p.m. Saturday at the BLT Financial Center, 200 Elm St., Stamford.

Proceeds will benefit E.A.T., a Fairfield-based nonprofit devoted to shining a light on the growing problems of food allergies. It was founded by Kim Hall and Elise Bates, both of whom have children with life-threatening food allergies.

Organizers said more than 17 million Americans deal with food allergies, and 1 in 12 children will be diagnosed with food allergies. 

The three experts will share research on food allergies and what progress is being made to find a cure. They are Sharon Chinthrajah, M. D., clinical assistant professor, co-director of Fare Clinical Network Site, Sean N. Parker Center for Allergy and Asthma Research at Stanford; Duane Wesemann, M.D., Ph.D., assistant professor of medicine, Harvard Medical School and associate physician, Brigham and Women’s Hospital; and Xiu-Min Li, M.D., M.S., professor of pediatrics, director of Center for Integrative Medicine for Allergies and Wellness, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York. 

The evening also includes cocktails, dinner, games, a live auction and a silent auction. Cocktails and games begin at 6 p.m., the discussion starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $150 for individuals, $500 with inclusion to the cocktail reception with the researchers. Tables of 12 with priority seating can be reserved for $2,500.
