Lt. Todd Kniffen, who has served in the Navy for five years, was the event’s keynote speaker. Those who serve in the military have the “rare privilege of seeing and understanding their fellow man at their very best,” he said.

“I would like to thank the long line of veterans that have continued to do their duty over the long and accomplished citizen lives that followed their active service,” Kniffen told residents and officials who had gathered in the Town Hall meeting room.

“They have created an indelible legacy that will always focus successive generations of duty bound American youth.”

The annual event is traditionally held at God's Acre down the street from Town Hall, but the rain pushed the event inside.
