St. Michael’s Lutheran Church In New Canaan Installs New Pastor

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The Rev. Derrick T. Fallon will be installed as pastor at St. Michael's Lutheran Church in New Canaan as part of a worship service open to the community on Sunday, Oct. 9, at 3 p.m.

The Rev. Marjo Anderson, pastor of Salem Lutheran Church in Bridgeport and the dean of the Southern Connecticut Conference for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), will preside at the service. The Rev. Paul Sinnott, assistant to the bishop for the ELCA New England Synod, will deliver the sermon. Clergy from New Canaan’s houses of worship and the churches of the Southern Connecticut Conference of the New England Synod, ELCA, have been invited to participate in the processional. A reception will follow the service. 

Fallon was called to serve St. Michael's Lutheran Church on July 17. 

He was born in Pennsylvania and lived in the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh areas until his father's work resulted in the family's relocation to Dutchess County, in New York. In 1976 the family moved again to Massachusetts where he finished high school and attended the University of Massachusetts, graduating in 1984 with a bachelor of arts degree in economics with a minor in psychology. 

In 2002 he entered Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, Pa., graduating in 2005 with a master of divinity degree before being ordained into the ministry of Word and Sacrament and called to serve St. John's Lutheran Church in Randolph, Neb., in 2006. 

While serving the congregation in Randolph, he attended Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn., and graduated in 2011 with a doctor of ministry degree in biblical preaching.
