NEW CANAAN, Conn. Mike Wallace, a longtime correspondent for the CBS news program 60 Minutes, died early Saturday night at the Waveny Care Center in New Canaan, according to CBS News . He was 93 years old.
Wallace was considered a pioneer in television news and was known for his aggressive reporting over the years. Wallace and Harry Reasoner introduced America to 60 Minutes in 1968. It eventually rose to become a staple of CBS Sunday evening programming, featuring interviews between Wallace and some of the worlds notable political and social figures.
Wallace reportedly had lived in New Canaan at Waveny Care for several years, though he also owned an apartment in New York City.
CBS will air a special edition of '60 Minutes' saluting Wallaces life and work next Sunday, the network said.
